Funeral Attendant
Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring (Aspen Hill), MD, has immediate openings for funeral attendants to lead funeral processions and represent the cemetery at committal services. These are part-time, on-call positions, although a schedule may be possible. Must have ability and willingness to work flexible hours Monday through Saturday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM office hours. High school diploma/GED and a clean driver’s record are required. Must be dependable, punctual, comfortable interacting with other staff members, other professionals, and grieving families. Professional attitude, appearance, and attire are required. Must be able to work in all outdoor weather conditions and able to assist as pallbearer if needed. Family Service Counselor (Advisor)
Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington, Inc., is hiring a Family Service Advisor at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland. Family Service Advisors support families by meeting with them in person or remotely to plan for burial services or prepare advance (pre-need) arrangements. They help families select burial sites and explain our varied goods and services. They escort burials on the day of the service, and assist families with the purchase of beautiful memorials. They perform a variety of administrative, operational and other tasks in support of the ministry, at the direction of a manager. Our priority is to meet with candidates who have prior office experience, and good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail are essential for this role. We require a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma or a GED. A background check will be performed. Prior cemetery experience is a plus, but not required. We offer career-oriented training and generous benefits. Grounds Crew
Catholic Cemeteries of the Archdiocese of Washington, Inc., is hiring a Grounds Crew member at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, Maryland. Our Grounds Crew members form the backbone of the cemetery, and assist the Foremen to perform all field operations in the cemeteries. They operate a variety of types of vehicles, equipment, and tools used for interments, memorial installation, and grounds maintenance. They work in all weather conditions, and ensure that the cemetery grounds are safe. Our priority is to meet with candidates who have good communication and interpersonal skills. Attention to detail is essential for this role. Prior cemetery experience and mechanical ability are a plus. We require a valid driver’s license, and a high school diploma or a GED.
