Catechists & Helpers Needed: The new Faith Formation season is about to begin. We need more catechists and helpers for Kindergarten, first communion, confirmation, and RCIY. If you would like to consider learning more about this challenging and rewarding ministry, please contact William at (301) 434-2111 or [email protected].
We have continuing needs for volunteers:
Catechists: volunteer to teach children (or Adults) about our Catholic faith following the Archdiocesan curriculum.
Catechist’s Aides: volunteer to help the catechist in the classroom. You don’t have to teach (unless you are willing to as needed), just be an extra hand to help out the Catechist.
Substitute Catechist: volunteer to teach in the classroom when a catechist is absent.
Couple Leaders: volunteer with your spouse in the Family Catechesis as Leaders of parents group.
Safety Monitors: volunteer to watch the hallways during class time and main entrance.
Office Support: volunteer to help the Faith Formation staff do various tasks for the program such as translations, data entry and refreshments.
Chaperone/drivers: volunteer to help our Confirmation students during retreats or during Youth Service Projects.
Most potential catechists do not have a degree in Education or Religion or Theology. Depending on your background, the Director will guide you through lessons plans and you can choose to attend any number of training or enrichment sessions offered by the Archdiocese of Washington to further you own understanding of the faith and you skills as a catechist: https://adw.org/learning-the-faith/faith-formation/certification/
