Not Counting Women and Children: Neglected Stories from the Bible by Megan McKenna Wednesday evenings (by Zoom) 7:15 - 8:45 PM 9 sessions, October 9 - December 11, 2024 (no group on Nov 27)
You are warmly invited to join your fellow parishioners to explore this book and let it open our imaginations to seeing Bible stories in a fresh way. Sessions include large and small group conversations. This book by acclaimed storyteller and scripture scholar Megan McKenna focuses on overlooked and often unnamed people whose stories in Scripture reveal the depths of God’s love, especially for the poor. For example, the Gospel of Matthew describes Jesus feeding a huge crowd: “Those who ate were about five thousand, not counting women and children.” McKenna asks us to reflect on who the overlooked people were and other details we may have missed in the story.
As we meditate on McKenna’s probing questions and discuss them with each other, we may find ourselves examining our own lives and being called to conversion and a deeper relationship with God and God’s people.
