What is the Christmas Alternative Gift Fair? ··It’s a wonderful opportunity to re-capture the true meaning of Christmas from a frenzy of consumerism.Rather than buying various Christmas gifts for our family or friends – gifts that, all too often, they can easily do without - you will be able to make a donation to designated projects that bring new life, dignity and hope to our brothers and sisters around the world. Many of them are women and children - just as vulnerable and desperate as Mary and baby Jesus who sought a little bit of shelter and security in tiny manger in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. ·In exchange for your gift of hope, you will receive a specially designed card that carries Christmas greeting and acknowledgment of a contribution you will have made in honor of your family member or friend. This year's focus will be in the area of Ebola relief in West Africa with Catholic relief services, a housing construction initiative on a Native American Reservation and supporting Women empowerment initiatives in the El Salvador ··Cards will be available in the parish office until 12/23
Our most recent trip to New Orleans to do Post Hurricane Katrina reconstruction with St Bernard's Project.
St. Camillus' St. Francis Builds is now planning its trip to build homes and/or a community center, and to engage in cultural exchange with the Lakota Sioux Nation on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota.
The trip will include 20-25 St. Camillus volunteers who will spend the week after Easter from April 6-13, 2015 working with the Tipi Raisers project. Tipi Raisers employs Lakota Sioux to log diseased pine beetle trees and uses the wood to build much-needed housing on the reservation. We will also experience Lakota Sioux culture, including their unique music, dance, religion, and interaction with nature. For more information on the Tipi Raisers, visit their website athttp://www.thetipiraisers.org/who-we-are.html.
