French Speaking Community

The Pan-African French speaking community of Saint Camillus, was founded in 2000. It began with the help of the Franciscan friars, at the request of African Catholics who felt the need to gather and to praise the Lord in familiar customs and language. Today the growing community of about 700 includes citizens from 14 African countries and Haiti. Mass is celebrated in French every Sunday at 2:30PM, as well as every Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 7PM.

To serve the spiritual and temporal needs of the community the following ministries have been created:

  • The Legion of Mary: Wednesdays at 7:45PM
  • The Charismatic Renewal: Fridays at 7:00PM
  • The Youth Group: Sundays at 12:00PM
  • The Children Ministry: Saturdays at 10:00AM
  • The Biblical Reflexion Group: Saturdays at 3:00PM
  • French Catechism: Sundays at 12:30PM
  • Four Choirs (Youth and Regular)
  • A Praise and Worship Group
  • The Gala: first Sunday of December

The NGO, l’AMI was created in 2003 to assist community members in the area of immigration, health, and integration in the American society.
